La Grange Saint Martin 2005

La Grange Saint Martin 2005

La Grange Saint Martin 2005

Taste the richness of La Grange St. Martin 2005, and you’ll be glad you did. Deliciously concentrated, old-vine fruit, hand-harvested from vineyards owned by the world’s greatest Chateauneuf-du-Pape estate … "hauntingly perfect" says Robert Parker - yet you’ll still have change from #6. This excellent value red is the result of months of effort, from dawn to dusk, in the vineyard and winery. Superbly ripe, healthy Syrah and Grenache - the same grapes as Chateauneuf, crafted with the same care and attention to detail by the same team that’s behind the Perrins’ world famous Beaucastel. "Dark cherry in colour, with ripe blackcurrant, blackberry and raspberry. Rich and full, with a fantastic, spicy finish. Delicious with grilled meats and hearty, traditional British fare such as bangers and mash."

Wisemans Crossing Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon 2005

Wisemans Crossing Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon 2005

Wisemans Crossing Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon 2005

Shiraz predominates in this Aussie classic - big and powerful with heaps of spicy, jammy blackcurrant fruit. It is from the Rossetto Estate which, like many wineries in the region, was founded by Italian immigrants who brought grape-growing and winemaking skills to this dry and fertile land. Today the winery goes from strength to strength. The grapes for this red were vinified in open concrete fermenters, which are ideal for extracting all the ripe fruit flavours. Wiseman’s Crossing has plenty of ripe, spicy blackcurrant fruit… courtesy of 2005’s acclaimed vintage Down Under. It also boasts a secret ingredient - Ruby Cabernet (Cabernet crossed with spicy dark Carignan) for added complexity.

Porton Viejo Sauvignon Blanc 2006

Porton Viejo Sauvignon Blanc 2006

"Chile’s wines are getting better all the time" (The Sunday Times) and this whistle-clean Sauvignon is no exception. 2006 was an outstanding vintage for aromatic whites - some say the ‘best ever’. Crisp, fresh and intensely fruity, Porton Viejo combines the innovation and dynamism of the New World with the skill of the old - thanks to experienced French winemaker Frederic Novella. Sparkling bright with classic aromas of gooseberry, fresh green grass and a delicate hint of blossom. Bursting with tropical fruit and citrus flavours, savour chilled and solo, or enjoy with salads and fresh fish.

Kittoch Lane Semillon Sauvignon 2006

Kittoch Lane Semillon Sauvignon 2006

Kittoch Lane Semillon Sauvignon 2006

Kittoch Lane is a mouthwatering combination of round Semillon and racy Sauvignon - the grapes behind Bordeaux’s finest whites. "It’s a traditional Bordeaux blend but we like to think we do it with more verve and with really fresh Aussie fruit flavours!", Sam Trimboli, Winemaker When Sam was making this wine all it lacked was a name … until one day wandering the vineyard Sam stumbled upon an old letterbox. Using a handful of grapes to clean away the grime the name Kittoch was revealed. Apparently the vineyard’s creek reminded a former Scottish owner of the creek which runs through the Kittoch Valley near Clyde! Herbaceous Semillon provides wonderful food-friendly weight and tropical fruit character, given a citrus zing by the Sauvignon. Pale gold with glints of green, orange blossom aroma and round flavours of lemon and honeydew melon. Crisp, refreshing and very long. Enjoy with calamari, grilled snapper or antipasti.

Legenda Pinot Noir 2005

Legenda Pinot Noir 2005

Legenda Pinot Noir 2005

Legenda Pinot Noir comes from the remote vineyards of the Tvarditsa Estate in distant Moldova - way off the well-trodden wine map, but oozing winemaking history that goes back over 2000 years. In more recent times these ancient vineyards supplied the tsars of imperial Russia and the Kremlin elite. The hand-picked grapes, excellent growing conditions (the estate lies on the same latitude as Burgundy) and ageing in small oak barrels give Legenda real class - all the finesse of red Burgundy at an extraordinary low price. We think you’ll find Legenda Pinot Noir a revelation! Dark ruby colour (much deeper than Burgundy!) with ripe red fruit and ‘forest floor’ aromas. Luxurious flavours of damson, tobacco leaf and spice, thanks to patient ageing in French oak barrels. Great Pinot Noir to be enjoyed with your finest dishes!

The Delver Petit Verdot 2006

Petit Verdot has a thoroughbred pedigree, originating from Bordeaux where it is traditional used to add backbone and colour to the very best Grand Cru clarets. Prone to under-ripeness in the cool maritime climate, Australia heat brings out the best in this grape variety. The Delver showcases the grape’s hallmark power, inky dark colour and bramble fruit alongside spicy violet notes. Silky tannins make this a great choice for barbecued fillet steak.

Las Casas de Vaqueria Merlot Half Bottle 2006

Las Casas de Vaqueria Merlot Half Bottle 2006

Las Casas de Vaqueria Merlot Half Bottle 2006

When the current owners of Vaqueria took over the estate they found neglected Bordeaux vines from the late 1900s in virtual ruin. Months of painstaking restoration and heavy investment has paid off. The vineyards have returned to their former glory and are now producing exceptionally ripe, concentrated fruit and the property is waiting to gain officially recognised status as an organic producer. Ripe plum and black berry fruit flavours with a touch of vanilla and spice. Will partner well with herb-crusted roast lamb or meaty pasta dishes.
